Slate Roofing in Cambridge with Chimney Restoration

A full slate re-roof in Cambridge with new Velux windows, a restored chimney with new pots and rain caps, and black uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering.

A slate re-roof in Cambridge, top to bottom

The old concrete tiles on this Cambridge home were past saving, so the owners chose a full re-roof in man-made slate. It's a sensible pick for roofing in Cambridge. The slates are consistent in size and colour, lighter than natural stone, and they lay up beautifully in straight courses. You can see the result in the photos.

Roof windows went in while the pitches were open, flashed straight into the new slate. The chimney got proper attention too. We repointed the stack, re-flaunched the top and fitted new pots with rain caps, so it's weathertight without losing its draw.

The details that finish a roof

Leadwork on this job was a pleasure. Stepped flashings at the abutments, and a run of ornamental lead scallops dressed over the bay window by hand. The roofline was renewed in black uPVC, fascias, soffits and guttering all matching, and the verges were mortared with a traditional fan detail at the gable.
